Background:
My task at Digitas was to enhance the user experience for Médecins Sans Frontières AU/NZ (MSF) by undertaking a comprehensive redesign of the organisaion’s twebsite. In close collaboration with the internal creative and strategy teams, we further developed the groundwork for an improved user-centred experience.MSF is an independent international medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters.


Key Responsibilities:

Discovery:
Conducted a UX audit of the existing website to identify continuity, consistency, accessibility, and usability issues.Conducted a competitive analysis of the broad NPO landscape, both domestic and international, to identify key trends, best practices, and potential opportunities for improvement in MSF’s approach.Looked at the GA data to find where the user experience needs improvement.User-centric approach:
Leveraged existing and developed in-house (by the strategy team) personas and user journeys to map user stories, sketch initial user flows and user experience.Iterative design and prototyping:
Worked as a part of the internal team to develop initial concepts for IA and subjected them to tree-jacking to evaluate the findability and hierarchy of the content. &#38;nbsp;Developed wireframes and brought these wireframes to life through Figma prototypes.Planned and designed a moderated user testing framework.Subjected wireframes and prototypes to moderated user testing for validation.Iterated the wireframes and UI designs based on the findings from the moderated user testing and the first impression survey.Design System and components library development:
Established a coherent MSFs Design System and components library, with a commitment to consistency and scalability.Collaboration and communication:Worked closely with internal stakeholders to define the scope of work, plan and execute a team-based and strategic approach.Presented artifacts and user testing synthesis to the wider group of internal and external stakeholders.Problem Areas:I identified key challenges through UX audit, stakeholder interviews and user testing.&#38;nbsp;Key problem statements:
The current website struggles to effectively communicate the MSFs mission, reach and the tangible impact of donations, potentially hindering the organisation's ability to inspire and retain donors.
The current website struggles to effectively communicate MSF’s overseas staff placement details and benefits, potentially hindering the organisation's ability to inspire potential recruits to apply for a job at MSF.
The current donation process on the website is perceived as complex or overwhelming, potentially discouraging potential donors.
The current website lacks prominent trust signals and transparent information, potentially undermining the trustworthiness of the organisation.
Users are experiencing difficulties in navigating the website due to unclear and confusing information architecture and navigation patterns, hindering their ability to find relevant content easily.
The current website is not optimised for mobile devices, potentially excluding a significant portion of the audience.&#38;nbsp;

Solutions:Once I recognised key challenges I ideated potential solutions to improve the experience and satisfy the unmet user needs.

Focused on using logic and patterns familiar to the user.Improved the website's IA and navigation.Prioritised mobile optimisation, ensuring that the website is easy to navigate and maintains a seamless user experience across various screen sizes.Enhanced credibility through trust-building elements and signals to attract and retain donors/recruits/partners.Enhanced the storytelling and impact display as it’s crucial for building user confidence and inspiring commitment.Designed a donation process that is simple, and intuitive, and assures users of the security measures in place.
Created and organised the design system and components library to facilitate future scalability.
Research, ideation and validation:
To ensure a solution-oriented approach and to decide how and where to improve the overall user experience I conducted research activities, ideated and used an iterative approach, emphasising user testing validation and stakeholder feedback.


Suggested success metrics:
Donor and donation growth, with a focus on recurring donation and donor retention.Recruit and job application growth.Increased website page views.Increased donation page conversion rate.Increased audience satisfaction rating.

Results:
Our iterative enhancements, validated through user testing and stakeholder input, have resulted in a cohesive MSFs Design System and a scalable component library. This promises a transformative user-centered experience in alignment with our strategic approach to inform, inspire, and retain MSFs audience.

Background:
At Digitas, I’ve been deeply involved in the optimisation efforts for the Tourism Australia (TA) website. 
This has involved a wide range of tasks, including the implementation and consistent upkeep of the TA’s Design System and Components Library. Additionally, I've undertaken activities such as thorough discovery phases, extensive exploratory work, validation through user testing, gathering and synthesis of valuable insights, and the creation of both low and high-fidelity prototypes.

 Map tool (MVP):
One notable achievement has been the reiteration, development, and introduction of the innovative map tool’s MVP. Through its incorporation, there was a remarkable transformation in user engagement, with the average time spent on the website soaring from ~30 seconds to an impressive ~12 minutes.
 This achievement was particularly significant as it led to maps tool recognition as a Webby Awards nominee and honoree, highlighting the excellence and impact of our work in the travel industry.

With over two decades of experience, they sought a comprehensive rebranding and a refreshed digital presence. My role in this project was to lead the development and transformation of their new visual identity into a compelling digital experience.

Background:

My tasks at ED. Digital was to redefine the visual identity and digital presence of The Kennedy Awards for Excellence in Journalism, an event organised by the Kennedy Foundation, a registered charity supporting news media professionals facing hardship. The goal was to capture the essence of prestige and highlight the glamour of the Awards' Gala.


Key Responsibilities:

Discovery: Conducted a thorough analysis of the existing visual identity and brand elements. Researched industry standards and competitor visual identities to identify key trends and opportunities for improvement.

User-centric approach: Leveraged insights from industry websites and news media platforms to craft initial visual concepts and user experiences.

Iterative design and prototyping: Developed initial concepts for the Awards' visual identity and subjected them to feedback sessions to evaluate their alignment with the prestigious essence of the event. Developed wireframes and translated them into visual prototypes for further refinement.

Design System and components library development: Established a cohesive visual identity for The Kennedy Awards, ensuring consistency and scalability in all brand elements.

Problem Areas:

Identified challenges in the existing visual identity that did not adequately capture the prestige and glamour of The Kennedy Awards, potentially hindering its ability to resonate with the industry's high standards.


Solutions:

Focused on an art direction to ensure the new visual identity aligns with industry standards and values. Prioritised iterative design and prototyping to refine the Awards' website.


Results:

As we anticipate final approval for the transition to full implementation, the iterative enhancements in The Kennedy Awards' visual identity, validated through industry feedback, have resulted in a cohesive and prestigious brand representation. This promised a transformative experience aligned with the high standards and values of journalism professionals, positioning The Kennedy Awards as a distinguished event in the industry.

My assignment at ED. Digital involved elevating the digital experience for Mason Stevens, a privately owned firm specialising in investment administration and managed account solutions across multi-assets and multi-currencies. The focus was on creating a professional and trustworthy digital presence based on existing wireframes.


Key Responsibilities:

Discovery:
Conducted a comprehensive review of existing wireframes and identified opportunities to enhance the digital experience. Researched industry best practices and competitor approaches to identify key trends and areas for improvement. Utilised data insights to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the current digital representation.

User-centric approach:
 Collaborated with the internal team to ensure alignment with the firm's key audience and communication goals.

Iterative design and prototyping:
Worked collaboratively to develop and refine the digital experience based on the established wireframes. Art directed and incorporated portrait shots from a photoshoot as focal points on the website, aiming to foster trust and confidence by humanising the firm's staff.

Design System and components library development:
Established a design system to maintain consistency and scalability across the digital experience. Organised a components library to facilitate the seamless integration of visual elements and maintain a cohesive online presence.

Collaboration and communication:
Engaged closely with stakeholders, including professional advisers and key decision-makers. Presented digital designs to stakeholders, and incorporated feedback to ensure alignment with the firm's values.

Problem Areas:

Identified challenges in the existing digital representation that hindered the establishment of trust and confidence with the firm's key audience. The existing corporate web presence was perceived as ‘anonymous’ and ‘generic’.

Solutions:

Focused on a user-centric approach, emphasising the expertise and credibility of professional advisers. 
Prioritised iterative design and prototyping to refine the digital experience. Art directed and incorporated portrait shots strategically to bridge the gap between the audience and the firm's staff, fostering a sense of trust.

Research, ideation, and validation:

Conducted research activities to understand the competitive landscape and expectations of the firm's key audience.


Results:

A new Mason Stevens' digital experience, validated through feedback, has resulted in a professional and trustworthy online presence. This promises to leave a lasting impression, reinforcing the firm's position as a reputable and trusted player in the financial industry.
